CONWAY — A former Harrison surgeon was found quilty of rape and second degree sexual assault. Guy Peeples was the doctor that was sentenced on Thursday.
The rape charges carried a 15-year sentence and the sexual assault charge carried a five-year penalty.
As first reported in the Daily Times in Nov. 2025, Peeples, who was a resident of Vilonia at the time of the incident, was viewed on a video monitor assaulting the 70-year old patient.
According to the affidavit for the warrant of arrest, an officer from the Conway Police Department (CPD) received a phone call from a Baptist Health employee. The employee told the police she had witnessed an incident between Peeples and a patient.
The employee had reported that the alleged victim had undergone surgery the previous day and witnessed Peeples entering the room and sexually assaulting the patient.
Officers reported in the affidavit for arrest that another officer made contact with the alleged victim at the hospital.
The victim had told the officer what happened to her and stated to the officer that she was in shock about the incident.
On Nov.11, 2025, a detective from CPD interviewed the president of Baptist Health Medical Center Conway, April Bennett. In the interview, Bennett disclosed that Peeples had admitted to the allegations that were made the previous day; however, he stated that all actions were consensual.
Baptist Health released the statement, “Guy Langley Peeples, MD, has been terminated after a reported incident involving reprehensible behaviors at our Conway hospital. In accordance with our policies, upon notification, we responded immediately and notified the Conway Police Department. The safety and security of our patients and caregivers remain our highest priority. Because this is an ongoing investigation, we are unable to provide further details and refer you to the Conway Police Department for additional information.”
Peeples turned himself in to the Faulkner County Detention Center on Nov. 18, 2025 where he was arrested and booked into the detention center.
