Amanda Furr hails from Northeast Iowa but moved to Harrison in 1996. She has been working at the Daily Times since 2008 — currently she juggles many responsibilities in the front office, including accounts payable. Furr enjoys spending time outdoors, reading, and hanging out with her son, Dakota — a 2021 HHS graduate. more
Members of the Boone County Quilters met at the Countryside assisted living facility on April 17 to provide a quilt show for the residents. Several quilts by Jackie Holt and Mary Ayers were displayed and members of the group held up quilts and walked around the room so that residents could see them up close and touch them. more
CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocates) of North Arkansas held their annual "Jeepin' for Casa" fundraising event on Saturday, April 20. Off-road enthusiasts gathered at North Arkansas College for a ride through the Buffalo River Valley. more
LITTLE ROCK —  Arkansas Extension Homemakers Council is the largest volunteer organization in the state, with nearly 3,000 members in more than 300 clubs. The organization provides important opportunities for leadership, education and fellowship. more
Evan Pyshny a 3rd grader at Omaha Elementary School is diagnosed with XLP and HLH. He is currently at St. Jude's Children's Hospital in Memphis needing a bone marrow transplant. Family members are being tested for a potential match. To help give some relief to the cost of their long medical journey, today, Saturday, Omaha is hosting a silent auction during the Peewee Jamboree in the School Gymnasium starting at 8 a.m. Check out Omaha School’s Facebook page for details. Bidding will end at 4 p.m. today. more
This year is starting off with a lot of stuff going on. I know I was on the go this weekend, Saturday, I went grocery shopping and stopped by the Blue Eye Farmer’s Market and you should see the size of the local produce. Wow! more

Carl and I attended the visitation services for Sherman Villines on Thursday evening. There was a very long line of people waiting to get in to visit with the family. People from many communities knew the Villines and Goodall families. It was a very large crowd. more
The outside of the library will soon get a new coat of paint. Currently they are washing/bleaching the outside, so please be careful. We will have areas blocked off – Please use caution when entering and exiting the library. more
Foundation Tables, a local non-profit group committed to helping neighbors in need, is hosting a Wash Wellness Day on Sunday, April 28, 3—7 p.m. The event will take place at Wash World on the by-pass in Harrison — 400 S Hwy 62/65. more

Major General Jonathan M. Stubbs, Adjutant General for the Arkansas National Guard, was the featured speaker Friday morning to the Junior and Seniors at Harrison High School. Students gathered in the Performing Arts Center to see Gen. Stubbs share his bio, information about the National Guard, life choices, and character development.  more

Andrea Miller’s family moved to Harrison from the Tulsa area about 5 years ago. “We fell in love with this little town and have a dream of opening up a coffeehouse where we can share our love of baking and coffee and love on people at the same time,” she shared. more

March 29 is the date set aside annually to honor Vietnam Veterans. This year the Arkansas Society and the Harrison Colony Chapter, National Society Daughters of the American Revolution, partnered with the Jordan Milam Chapter, Sons of the American Revolution, to honor their chapter members who were veterans of the Vietnam War and to properly welcome them home. more
