Basketball is just around corner

Friday night marked the halfway point of the high school football season.
Tennis just started postseason this week and golf will close the door on the season this coming week.
Now that Harrison is in Class 4A, the regular season ends quicker in volleyball. The Lady Goblins will play in a district tournament. Should they finish in the top four of that, they will move on to a regional tournament.
They must finish in the top four of the regional tournament before moving on to the state tournament.
While football schools are doing those things, the basketball schools are getting ready to play intra-squad scrimmage games.
Yes, this coming Friday is one of the common dates for those games.
That seems way too quick, but here we are with almost the first nine-weeks of school completed.
I guess we all should know that basketball is around the corner because Arkansas fans are already turning their attention away from the football field to basketball court.
With several top 100 basketball recruits visiting Fayetteville, Razorback basketball is already picked as a top 10 team in some polls. They have been given good odds by betting websites to finish the year in the Elite Eight.
There isn’t a problem with Coach Calipari and the Razorbacks, well maybe just one.
There can only be five players on the floor at a time. He has about 12 that can play and finding time for each of them will be difficult.
He likes to play about eight players a game in his rotations. There just aren’t enough balls to go around when the horn sounds.
Friday night the Razorbacks had a showcase to display their talents. It was called Primetime at the Palace. Officials were expecting more than 10,000 fans at Bud Walton to see their intra-squad scrimmage.
Saturday, I will keep my eye on the Razorback football score, but I will probably be looking for highlights of the 3-point shooting contest and the dunks that will be taking place during the game.
I can’t lie, I am getting an itch for basketball season.
