ORDINANCE NO. 1559

AN ORDINANCE AMENDING ORDINANCE NO. 1538- HARRISON FIRE PREVENTION
CODE, SECTION 11.02.01, ADOPTION OF APPLICABLE CODES, TO ADOPT THE
NATIONAL ELECTRICAL CODE, 2026 EDITION, WITH ARKANSAS AMENDMENTS, FOR OTHER PURPOSES, AND ENACTING THE EMERGENCY CLAUSE

WHEREAS, the City Council of the City of Harrison, Arkansas, previously adopted Ordinance No. 1538, known as the Harrison Fire Prevention Code; and


WHEREAS, Section 11.02.01 of Ordinance No. 1538 references the 2020 National Electrical Code (NEC) for use within the City of Harrison; and
WHEREAS, the State of Arkansas has adopted the 2026 Edition of the National Electrical Code with Arkansas Amendments as the standard for the State of Arkansas; and

WHEREAS, the City Council is required to update the applicable code to the National Electrical Code referenced in Section 11.02.01 of Ordinance No. 1538 as follows:

SECTION 1. AMENDMENT TO SECTION 11.02.01
Section 11.02.01, Adoption of Applicable Codes, of Ordinance No. 1538 is hereby amended by deleting the words:
"The National Electrical Code 2020 Edition"
and replacing with:
"The National Electrical Code 2026 Edition, with Arkansas Amendments."
Emergency Clause: This Amendment being necessary to comply with the timeline set by the Arkansas Department of Labor and Licensing adopting the correct code, an emergency is hereby declared to exist,and this Amendment shall be in full force and effect from and after its passage and approval and the filing of adequate copies of same with the City Clerk and a publication of the notice that the same has been filed, and the filing of copies of the same with the County Recorder of Boone County, Arkansas.
NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT ORDAINED BY THE CITY COUNCIL OF THE CITY OF
HARRISON, ARKANSAS:
