MT. JUDEA — Some things do get better with age. Now in its fourth year, the Deer-Mt. Judea’s Touch-A-Truck Career Day for elementary school students attracted an estimated 500 students this year. Students came from Alpena, Berryville, Deer, Mt. Judea, Oark, Omaha, Searcy County, Solid Rock Academic Center, and Yellville-Summit.

Valley Springs Homecoming will be held on Friday, November 7. The Homecoming Assembly will be at 9 a.m. in the gymnasium. The Junior High Homecoming Court will be presented and the queen will be crowned at 5 p.m. The Senior High Homecoming Queen will be crowned between the junior boys and senior boys games around 6:30 p.m. Homecoming dance will be held on Saturday, November 8, from 7-10 in the new gym.

BATESVILLE —From Lead Hill to Little Rock, the journey of Lyon College student Levi Neal highlights the powerful bridge between personal history and scientific ambition. As a Lyon College student raised in one of Arkansas’s rural corners, Neal knows addiction not as theory but as a lived reality. This past summer, he brought that lived experience into the lab, working at the University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) in the Department of Pharmacology and Toxicology to explore how psychedelics might counter the grip of opioids in the brain.

MT. JUDEA — During the regular meeting of the Deer-Mt. Judea School Board on Monday, Oct 13 on the Mt. Judea campus, the board accepted the voluntary resignation of superintendent Joshua “Blaine” Lawrence. Along with Lawrence’s resignation, the board approved a lump wage payment of $110,000.

LEAD HILL – Lead Hill Homecoming is scheduled for Thursday, October 30th. The Homecoming Parade will start at 8:30 a.m. from First Baptist Church Lead Hill. The day ceremony will be at 1 p.m. in the new gym. Lead Hill will host Eureka Springs with games beginning at 4 p.m. The order of events for the night are as follows: Jr. Girls, Jr. Boys, Homecoming Ceremony, Sr. Boys and Sr. Girls. Alumni from graduated years ending in "6" will be recognized during halftime of the Sr. Boys game. Alumni from these years can contact the office at 870-436-5250 to reserve two free gate tickets.
