County budget prepared for passage

Governor announces intent to grant clemency
LITTLE ROCK – Gov. Asa Hutchinson has announced his intent to grant several pardons. An additional 52 clemency requests were denied and two had no action taken on them. These include requests from both inmates and non-inmates. more

‘Illegal guide’ found guilty Tuesday
U.S. Attorney David Clay Fowlkes said a Bentonville man was convicted Tuesday in federal court for illegally guiding hikers in Newton County without a permit following the fall death of a hiker in May. more

More than 1,100 sailors died on the USS Arizona when the Japanese attacked Pearl Harbor on Dec. 7, 1941. Those who survived the chaos did their best to help others before the explosion-ravaged battleship sank. Navy Rear Adm. Samuel Glenn Fuqua was one of those men. For his bravery and leadership that day, he earned the Medal of Honor. more

10.7% pay raise OK’d
The Harrison City Council will soon be receiving a draft of the proposed general operating budget for the city's 2023 fiscal year. According to Luke Feighert, the city's chief financial officer, employees can expect a 10.7% raise in pay next year due to the inflation produced Cost of Living Adjustment along with a hold over from last year. more
