Service: 1 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at Piercetown Holiness Church, with burial at Carver Cemetery; Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 14, at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper.

Nova Linness Bower, 69, of Western Grove, passed away on Wednesday, June 12 (2019) at NARMC in Harrison.

She was born April 3, 1950, in Harrison, the youngest daughter of Melvin and Pairlee (Flud) Bolin. 

She was a retired cosmetologist and part-time instructor at the Harrison School of Cosmetology.  

Nova loved the Lord and singing for Him, especially “This Little Light of Mine.” Her heart’s desire was to be in church and with her family.  She attended Delmar Bolin’s Church in Newton County. She never missed an opportunity to witness for the Lord.

She enjoyed playing the guitar and piano, knitting and sewing, making desserts, traveling across the US, swimming at the river with her grandkids, listening to them sing, play music and preach.

She was preceded in death by her parents; an infant; three sisters, Pauline Flud, Ova Bruce and Claudia Faye Donley; two brothers, an infant and Delmar Bolin; and grandson, Josiah Bower.

Survivors are her daughter, Deloris (Farren) Smith, of Hasty; son, Dewight (Sherry) Bower, of Piercetown; her former spouse, Euill Lee Bower; brother, Calvin Bolin, of Piercetown; sisters, Lovedia Smith, of Batavia, and Katherine Spears, of Piercetown; grandchildren, Jonathan Smith, Jeremiah Smith, Shawn Bower, Breanna Bartlett, and Trenton Malone; three great-grandchildren, Seth, Jasmine and Natalie; and many nieces and nephews.

Funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday, June 15, at Piercetown Holiness Church. Burial will follow at Carver Cemetery.

Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, June 14, at Coffman Funeral Home in Jasper.
