Service: Graveside at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at Georges Creek Cemetery; Visitation: 6-8 p.m. Friday, April 10, at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home.

Garry Lyle Godfrey, age 96, of Harrison, passed away Monday, April 6 (2015) at Hillcrest Home in Harrison.  

He was born Dec. 31, 1918, in Pyatt, the son of Joseph G. and Ivy E. (Pangle) Godfrey. Along with his parents, Garry was preceded in death by his brothers, K.D. Godfrey and Thurman Godfrey.

Garry had been a resident of Boone County for 55 years. He was of the Protestant faith. Garry had been a Staff Sgt. during World War II having served in the China/Burma/India Theater. He was a civil engineer having worked for the Arkansas Highway Department for 35-plus years. After he retired, he and Georgia traveled extensively. Garry was a Mason and a member of the Yellville Lodge.  

Garry is survived by his loving wife, Georgia M. (King) Godfrey, of Harrison; his sons and daughters-in-law, Ronald G. and Ruby Godfrey, of Harrison, and Lyle G. and Carol Godfrey, of Sherwood; seven grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and a host of other family.

Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, April 10,at Roller-Christeson Funeral Home. Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 11, at George’s Creek Cemetery, with Ronald Godfrey officiating. Pallbearers are Gavin Godfrey, Travis Godfrey, Garren Godfrey, Chad Godfrey, Jonathan Coppock, David Tallant and Cody Maupin.
