Hidden gem on the banks of Crooked Creek

It’s a fact of life that so often things are not what they seem. This maxim applies to pretty much any facet of life on this sphere. This especially applies to towns and cities and the older the town, the more treasures lie hidden. One hundred years ago, and more, Harrison could have been called the “City of Springs”. Other than Crooked Creek itself, all the other water sources have been buried and covered up to make way for progress. Few people realize that most of the buildings that make up the Harrison square are built on top of basements, and in a number of those basements are actual springs that were covered over with conduit and piped into Crooked Creek, forever hidden from curious eyes. Sometimes during periods of heavy rain and floods, these basements can no longer contain the trickling spring that flows through, and the swelling tide turns those basements into swimming pools.
