Independence Day celebrated across the Ozarks

Posted

Celebrating the 4th of July is a family tradition in America. The fourth is a federal holiday known as Independence Day in the United States. This special day is set aside to commemorate the signing of the Declaration of Independence of the United States on July 4, 1776. The Continental Congress declared that the thirteen American colonies were no longer subject to or subordinate to the monarch of Britain. The thirteen colonies were now united, free and independent states. The Congress had voted to declare independence two days earlier, on July 2, but it was not officially declared until July 4.
