Janis Kay Watts, 68, of Springfield, Mo., passed away at 2:22 p.m. Sunday, April 11 (2010) at Cox Hospital.

Janis was born April 26, 1941, to Buster and Ruby (Trublood) Watts. She graduated from Harrison High School and Draughans Business College. She retired from the Missouri Department of Transportation after 38 years.

Janis was preceded in death by her parents. She is survived by two sisters, Peggy Haik and her husband, Jerry of Springfield, Mo. and Debbie Bennett and her husband, Chuck of Harrison; a brother, Larry Watts and his wife, Judy of Owasso, Okla.; two nephews, Jason Watts and Blake Bennett; two nieces, Shauna Eischen and Madelyn Bennett; a great-nephew, Jackson Watts; and two great-nieces, Anna Eischen and Ella Eischen.

Despite her many illnesses, Janis always maintained a positive and happy outlook. She loved her friends and family, and will be greatly missed. She really loved her three cats and often donated to the Care No Kill Shelter.

Graveside services will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 15, at Maplewood Cemetery with the Rev. Tim Phillips officiating, under direction of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield, Mo. Visitation will be from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 14, at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Care No Kill Shelter or to the charity of the donor’s choice.
