Kite R.A.C.E. to be held April 15

The Boone County Leadership Institute Class XXXII and Youth Leadership Academy Class XXIII, with support from the Arvest Foundation, will sponsor the Kite Rally Asian Cultural Event on Thursday, April 15 at 4:30 p.m. In collaboration with the Diversity and Inclusion Committee, Filipino and Asian American Community, Harrison Regional Chamber of Commerce and The Task Force on Race Relations, the Leadership Institute and Youth Leadership Classes will host this event to raise awareness and solidarity and to stop hate crimes and violence aimed at the Asian Community. The community is invited to come together for this inaugural Asian cultural event. Bring your own kite, or fly one provided at the site to the football field at the old Harrison Jr. High. There will be contests for: Most unusual kite Largest kite Longest tail kite BLCI/YLA relay race Best themed kite Kite flying will begin at 5 p.m. Participants are encouraged to drop off a package of Ramen noodles for CCM’s backpack weekend meal program for needy children in the community.
