To be “The Roots Music Palace of the Ozarks,” it’s not enough for the Lyric to be the home of Americana only…so the OAC is proud to bring you the roots of (a lot of) our roots: the celebrated virtuoso partnership of “the doyenne of Irish harpers” and “one of the UK’s most staggering and influential acoustic guitarists”—Máire Ní Chathasaigh and Chris Newman—are coming to the Lyric on Friday, March 10, at 7 p.m.!
Their performances—described by The Irish Times as “music of fire and brilliance from the high-wire act in traditional music”—are rooted but eclectic, emotional but adventurous: a breathtaking blend of traditional Irish music, hot jazz, bluegrass, and baroque, coupled with striking new compositions and Chris’s delightfully subversive wit.
