Greetings from Capps. We had about 1.2 inches of much-needed rain last Tuesday night with more in the forecast. I'm grateful that Fall came a bit early this year. It makes doing outside work more pleasant. This is a good time to burn brush and clean up before it gets windy, it's also great weather for transplanting trees and shrubs cole crops. I've got a few loblolly pines to get in the ground as well as some roses and peonies. The Capps Batavia Fire Department responded to several vehicle accidents over the last week or so and calls for fires have been minimal over the summer. Tim Hunter, one of our Assistant Chiefs, will be honored on Monday night at the Capps Firehouse by the American Legion for exemplary service as a first responder. He's also taken the lead in the preparation for our upcoming inspection by ISO, putting in many, many hours of time checking hydrants and updating records. One of our goals is to be able to potentially expand our facility at Capps to facilitate improved training and space as we upgrade equipment. We saw lots of pumpkin stands on our way to Fayetteville last Tuesday, I'll miss not selling pumpkins, pansies and mums at Diversified Services this year, but I enjoyed the 5 years I had there and the many friendships that were formed during that time. It's always good to be looking ahead with expectation to the good things God has in store rather than looking back with regret. I'm praying that your Fall will be peaceful and blessed, Doug
