Service: 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Crossroads Church in Prince George, Va., with burial at Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens; Visitation: 10-11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at the church, with arrangements by J.T. Morriss and Son in Hopewell, Va.

Pearl Elizabeth Blevins, 81, of Colonial Heights, Virginia, formerly of Harrison, passed away on Tuesday, Jan. 1 (2019). 

She was preceded in death by her parents, John and Hattie Pennington; daughter, Emma Michelle Reich; son, Joseph Edward Blevins; sister, Linda M. McElhanon; and brother, Vinton Ray Pennington.

She is survived by her loving husband of 62 years, James “Jim” Blevins; daughter, Karen Sue Atkins and husband, Billy; daughter, Marcia Ann Brown; son, Scott Vinton Blevins; brother, James W. Pennington and wife, Kathy, brother, Robert Wayne Pennington; 13 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and her sister-in-law, Agnes Pennington; as well as numerous extended family and friends. 

Pearl was an author who had two of her books published “George and Elizabeth” and a children’s book “SNO Drop and The Human Critters." She was employed with Levi Strauss in Harrison and was one of the first women to hold the position of industrial engineer. 

The family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at Crossroads Church in Prince George, Virginia. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 4, at the church. Interment will follow in Merchants Hope Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are with J.T Morriss and Son in Hopewell, Virginia.
