Callers to the Daily Times say they are having trouble determining the state Legislature districts after the maps were redrawn in 2021 as required by law following the 2020 Census. This map shows state House District 5 in pink, which is the southern half of Boone County. State Rep. Ronnie McNair, a Republican, is running for the seat and is challenged by two independent candidates. The race will be decided in the fall General Election. Those candidates will not appear on the May 24 Primary Election ballot.
