Service: Memorial service at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, at St. John's Episcopal Church.

Sybil Scarsdale passed from this life on Friday, July 20 (2012).  

She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Richard Scarsdale; her sister, Mary Rose Hamm; her son, Mike Scarsdale and his wife, Kathy; her daughter, Betty Robinson and her husband, Jim; and her son, Jim Scarsdale and his wife, Margaret. She was the grandmother to Emily Marshall and her husband Bill, Grant Scarsdale, Jim Robinson and his wife Jennifer, Charles Scarsdale, Thomas Robinson, and Nicholas and Graylen Scarsdale; and she was great-grandmother to Taylor and Sydney Marshall and Stella Rose Scarsdale.  

She was preceded in death by her son, John; her brother-in-law, Garland Hamm; her parents, B. Rose and Mary Stella Killebrew; and her grandparents, William A. and Cora Moss Bradley.

Sybil was born in Everton and was a descendant of pioneer families, Bradley/Moss of the Jasper area and Killebrew/Davidson of the Leslie area. She was a woman of strong values and integrity.  Sybil was a graduate of the Harrison High class of 1950 and attended Drury College. Sybil worked for the U.S. Census Bureau, as a substitute teacher, and for the city of Harrison.  Sybil retired from the family business, Arkansas Products Company. She was involved in the PTA, Girl Scouts and the Woman’s Book Club.  Sybil was an Amateur Radio Operator, call sign WA5BBN.  She was an avid and skilled bridge player and a bridge director.  

She and Richard enjoyed square dancing, boating and flying. They travelled to all 50 states, most in an RV. Sybil was a longtime member of the Episcopal Church.  

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 24, at St. John’s Episcopal Church. The Rev. Ross Stuckey will be the celebrant.  The family invites friends and family to a light lunch and shared remembrances at the Harrison Country Club after the service.

Memorials may be made to Hospice of the Hills, American Heart Association, or a charity of your choice.
