[Note] The following highly entertaining first-hand account was given by Albert Raney, Sr. in the Harrison Daily Times, 1969 when he was 75 years old. It is hard to grasp now, in the days of instant everything, including communication and travel, but Albert’s story relates his first trip to Harrison from Newton County when he was 9 years old. Apparently he had never been out of Newton County, and had never seen an electric light until this adventure to another world---the city of Harrison.
