Service was held at 2 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at Nelson's Green Forest Chapel, with interment at New Home Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service; visitation was from 12:30 to 2 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at Nelson's Green Forest Chapel.

Vinnie Marie Loftis of Green Forest, was born July 4, 1931 in Green Forest, to Roy Isaac and Vera E. (VanWinkle) Barnes. She departed this life Monday, July 16 (2018) at her home near Oak Grove, with her children by her side at the age of 87 years.

Marie was of the Church of Christ faith. She loved quilting and was a member of the Grim Brawley Quilting Club. She loved to organize and attend reunions and always looked forward to meeting all of her high school friends at the Green Forest Alumni Banquet each year. Marie also enjoyed listening to music, especially gospel music, and going to Silver Dollar City.

She is survived by one daughter, Nita Sue Loftis of Green Forest; two sons, Lindal Loftis and wife, Carlyn of Green Forest; Terry Lee Loftis of Oak Grove; two brothers, Ira Barnes and wife, Gayle of Springfield, Missouri; Irvin Barnes and wife, Barbara of Springfield, Missouri; four grandchildren, Justin Loftis and wife, Jessica, Ann Garcia, David Evans and wife, Michelle, and Shelley Evans; six great-grandchildren, Shelby Loftis, Lucas Kile, Kendall Evans, Kaleigh Evans, Billy Evans and Steve Garcia; several nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

On July 22, 1950 she was united in marriage with Timothy James Loftis who preceded her in death. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Roy and Vera Barnes; one son, Larry Loftis; one brother, Leroy Barnes; one infant sister; and a very special cousin, John Garris, who was killed in Italy during WWII.

Visitation was from 12:30-2 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at Nelson’s Green Forest Chapel. Funeral service was 2 p.m. Thursday, July 19, at Nelson’s Green Forest Chapel. Interment will follow at the New Home Cemetery under the direction of Nelson Funeral Service.
