The Bible Reading Marathon will be from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday and Wednesday, April 30 and May 1. Thursday, May 2 the hours are 8 a.m. to 12 noon. Call Sylvia at 870-204-2039 to assist or ask questions or schedule a block of time to read the Bible. ‘George Washington’ will make an appearance at the Bandstand at 11:30 on Tuesday, April 30 to address the crowd.
The community is invited to participate in the National Day of Prayer on Thursday, May 2, at 6 p.m. in the Signature Bank Community Room, formerly known as the Durand Center at 303 N. Main Street. The featured speaker is Pastor Bruce Haynes of New Life Temple, Hollister, Missouri. He is an award winning gospel songwriter and has a tremendous witness about the power of prayer. A portion of this year’s prayer focus and time of thanks will be directed toward a few of the non-profit organizations that make this community unique. Representatives will be available before and afterward to answer questions, take donations or talk to potential volunteers.
