In the fall, all Boone County high schools are recipients of the information necessary to choose a student who is a Senior for this award. The school decides individually if they will participate and how they will nominate and choose the Good Citizen to represent the school. This is not a local scholarship program but offers recognition for the qualities defined by the award. The DAR Good Citizens program encourages and rewards the qualities of good citizenship. A student must have the following qualities:

Dependability – truthfulness, loyalty and punctuality

Service – which includes cooperation, courtesy and consideration of others.

Leadership – which includes personality, self-control, and the ability to assume responsibility.

Patriotism – unselfish interest in family, school, community and our nation.

Congratulations to these students. Membership in DAR is available to any woman 18 years of age or older who is descended from a man or woman who, with unfailing loyalty to the cause of American Independence, served as a sailor, soldier or civil officer in one of the several colonies, or as a recognized patriot, or rendered material aid thereto.
