Greetings from Capps. My angel neighbors down the road (you know who you are) brought us two quarts of beans and some cornbread on Monday. It hit the spot on a cold day. Tuesday morning, (-15 wind chill) my neighbor Merlin cut down and sawed up two snags in my pasture. They'll be good firewood for his new stove. The good news is that as of today, Wednesday, the temperature is finally above freezing. It got so cold out here that my goosebumps had goosebumps on them! I lost track of how many buckets of warm water I hauled to the animals but it was a lot. Thankfully, the cows have a stock tank heater and I have a few other heated bowls. Capps Batavia Fire received the anticipated, "I smell gas" calls from the Highway 392/397 area. When the temperature drops significantly, there is a pressure relief valve that releases gas at the pumping station. That being said, better safe than sorry and if you smell gas inside your home, move outside and leave the door open to help ventilate, then call for help. I guess the majority of the vehicle wrecks were all outside and around our area according to a local ambulance driver but we were chained up and ready to go if needed. I'm still working with Frances Flippo from Capps doing cleaning for Terry Estes, after February, I hope to be doing home Healthcare while finishing school. Blessings, Doug
