Boone County and the City of Harrison made a joint proclamation for "Red Ribbon Week" on Friday, Oct.18. Red Ribbon Week takes place nationwide each year from Oct. 23 - 31. The weeklong drug prevention awareness campaign was started by the National Family Partnership — formerly the National Federation of Parents for Drug Free Youth. They were established as a grassroots, nonprofit organization in 1980.
