Share and Care celebrates return of Saturday store hours

Posted

Ozark Share and Care will host a parking lot sale this Saturday, June 8, 9 a.m. - 2 p.m. The sale will kick off Share and Care’s new Saturday hours. They have been closed on Saturdays since COVID, and are ready to celebrate re-opening for Saturdays.

The event is also meant to help generate an influx of funding — something the charity greatly needs at this time. Executive Director Holly Carson explained, “With food costs increasing and cash donations down around 36%, and the need never changing for assistance, we need to do what we can to bolster our passion for our mission in any way possible.”

Carson went on to say, “Share and Care’s mission began in the 1980s and has held strong throughout the years. Now, we are in need of a bit of support from the community.” Carson hopes the community will get reacquainted with Share and Care’s mission and come out to see all of the great deals they can find at the parking lot sale and during regular store hours.

For the first quarter of 2024 alone, the organization has helped to feed approximately 3,800 people from their food pantry which is open weekly on Wednesday, 9 a.m. - 12 p.m. They have also served over 7,900 meals from The Sharing Kitchen which is open Fridays 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m., as well as Saturday and Sunday, 10:30 a.m. - 11:30 a.m. and Monday 4:30 p.m. - 5:30 p.m. A sack lunch program that runs Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday 10:30 a.m. - 12.30 p.m. is another method of helping those in need.

Share and Care has given over $13,000 worth of assistance to over 1,800 households with around 100 of those being new households to be served in this first quarter. Cost of food thus far has reached over $79,000. Proceeds from the thrift store and cash donations go toward funding these services. The group does not receive public money or government grants — the entire program is community sponsored and supported.

Ozark Share and Care is located at 105 Hwy 62/65 on the Bypass in Harrison. To find out more about the organization's programs and how you can help, call (870) 741-3130.
