Phillip Wood has served the community and has been a wonderful asset to the area’s tourism business for over three decades. He has been a hotel owner, advisor and member of the Community Advertising and Tourism Promotion Commission. At the November meeting of the CAPTC held Thursday, Nov. 16, Wood was presented a gift basket and plaque to thank him for his efforts throughout the years. more
Kevin Middleton will the featured speaker Tuesday, Dec. 12, at the South campus of North Arkansas College. Mr. Middleton’s presentation will be located in Room M145 and the program will begin at 6:30 p.m. Former park ranger, Kevin Middleton is a long-time outdoor enthusiast and highly regarded for his knowledge and experience of hiking the Ozarks and the trails surrounding the Buffalo National River. His presentation will outline basic hiking knowledge along with some of the do’s and don’ts to hiking in the beautiful Ozarks. He will also feature some of his favorite hiking trails throughout northern Arkansas that are family friendly and enjoyable this time of year. more

The 5th Annual Cooking for Kids Backyard Grillers Cook-Off contest was held Saturday, Oct. 14, during the Ride the Ozarks Rally. Seven grillers brought their grill skills to the square to be judged by attendees that voted for their favorite feast. more

Anthony Gomes fell in love with music growing up in Toronto, Canada. He was drawn to the raw sound of the blues and rock guitars as he listened to Muddy Waters, Jimi Hendrix, Eddie Van Halen and the King himself—B.B. King! The young man picked up an axe and sharpened his skills, and has not slowed down yet. He released his first album “Blues in Technicolor” in 1998, followed by 13 more albums and tours far and wide. more
