Global Interns visit Harrison

Posted

The founder of the Howtolife Movement, Jordan Whitmer, was in town recently with four interns from around the world.

Whitmer shared what God has done in the past nine years since the movement began at Harrison High School and quickly spread to additional area schools. Each meeting continues to promote the gospel and teenagers from Gen Z are responding in large numbers.

The second meeting was held in Branson and as Jordan says, “Just like Same Walton said about the Harrison Walmart, ‘if store number two hadn’t been successful, we wouldn’t have this empire of stores.’ So we are grateful for what God has done in each location where a meeting is held.”

During the 2024 school year, there have been 160 events in 29 states, 11 countries and four continents. “This is looking like it will be our largest year with more than 30 events happening around the world,” Jordan said.

“Gen Zyoung people aren’t impressed by skinny jeans and fancy programs. They want to see a life lived for Jesus Christ that is real. They are searching for something real. They are lost, but curious. They’ve learned that nothing satisfies. And we know that is what the gospel — the good news of Jesus Christ — can give them,” Jordan said.

The Howtolife Movement has also connected Christian teens. “Many teens believe they are the only Christian in their high school or college campus. But with the Howtolife connection they have made friends with other Christians in their area and around the world.”

Jordan recently launched the HowToLife Global Internship program. Four interns have raised their own support for this time of learning and investing into the ministry.

Each one shared their story and connection with HowToLife and their desire to reach their peers and generation.

Jordan’s grandfather, Ron Hutchcraft is often mentioning the “unreached people groups,” and added, “Global youth are the most unreached people group of our time.”

Hutchcraft continued, “We recently witnessed what happens when the moon gets in between us and the sun which is our source of light. Hearts all over the world are only connected horizontally. Hearts need to be united vertically to God. When connected they stampede away from God or toward God. These teens’ passion for their peers is real. No hype. They are stampeding toward God and sharing that message of Jesus to their friends.”

Jordan asked that individuals, businesses and churches consider assisting the ministry in several ways. “Please pray for us. Give if God leads. Advocate for us — tell other teenagers of our existence. Then we need volunteers of all age groups to assist with administrative duties — like making copies, sending out information to churches. We need all generations involved in helping us reach Gen Z.”

Jordan’s parents, Rick and Lisa Whitmer are very involved in the ministry. Rick said, “It has been very exciting to see what started around our dining room table with Jordan and three friends becoming this global movement. Many young people involved in the early days of the movement are still involved in local church leadership as adults and continue to reach souls from the passion and training they gained from the HowToLife Movement.
