Terri Ginochio, 64, of Harrison, died at Cox South April 16 following a long hospitalization after an auto wreck that occurred in February. The two-vehicle wreck occurred on Lakeshore Drive, in Harrison, on Feb. 8. The wreck was located on the bridge crossing Crooked Creek near Wonder Willa Park. A 2003 Chevy Silverado pickup, driven by 37 year-old Alex Lynn Rocky Moore, impacted Ginochio's 2005 Toyota Camry when the Silverado crossed the center line while traveling Eastbound. more
A tanker truck wrecked over onto its side Friday, slowing traffic in Marion County. Office of Emergency Management reported the tanker truck overturned in Flippin early Friday morning. The wreck closed roads to thru traffic at Hwy 62 and Hwy 202 all the way to Hwy 62 Business at Powell Feed in Flippin. more
We really need to do something about our national debt. No, I’m not talking about the nearly $35 trillion dollars Congress has borrowed over the years. I am discussing a more important debt. A debt born in blood, sweat and sacrifice. The saying “Freedom Isn’t Free” rings so true and the people who paid this steep price are called veterans. We owe them a massive debt that can never be repaid, but we can try to do a better job taking care of them. more

Special Olympics Arkansas Area 2 held their Spring Track and Field event at F.S. Garrison Stadium in Harrison on Friday, April 12. The events kicked off with a torch run featuring officers of the Harrison Police Department and Boone County Sherriff's Office at 8:30 a.m. The torch run began at the  Harrison City Hall and ended at the F.S. Garrison Stadium. more

Paige Henderson grew up in a few small towns in Iowa and Wisconsin before moving to Arkansas. She enjoys cooking with her husband, Jason — a freelance copywriter. The couple live near Berryville, where they work from home, "I’m an IT support specialist and I love the freedom I have working remotely. It gives me the chance to live almost anywhere and I'm happy to be here in Northwest Arkansas," says Henderson. more
[Note] The following highly entertaining first-hand account was given by Albert Raney, Sr. in the Harrison Daily Times, 1969 when he was 75 years old. It is hard to grasp now, in the days of instant everything, including communication and travel, but Albert’s story relates his first trip to Harrison from Newton County when he was 9 years old. Apparently he had never been out of Newton County, and had never seen an electric light until this adventure to another world---the city of Harrison. more
Folks of all ages convened on Yellville on Monday, April 8 to view the total eclipse of the sun together. The Yellville area received approximately 2 minutes and 48 seconds of totality during the eclipse, making it an appealing destination for eclipse chasers from around the country. more
