BRANSON — Quilts of Valor of the Ozarks (QOVO) held their first veteran quilt award ceremony on April 10, 2024 at the Branson Area Christian Women’s Connection luncheon. Mr. Richard Collins was honored for his service with the presentation of a Quilt of Valor by six members of the QOVO Chapter, from Kimberling City, MO. more

Landon Curtis grew up in this area, graduating from Valley Springs High School before finishing his education at Missouri State University. His wife, Allie, is also a Harrison native, and Curtis says they’re thankful to be raising their two boys in this community. One of his favorite quotes from the couple’s oldest son is, “Daddy cooks, Mommy cleans.” Curtis works for Anstaff Bank and serves on the board of the Buffalo National River Partners. more

The parents of Sky Blue Lorene Keen and Edward Heath Knight are pleased to invite friends and family to attend the wedding of their children, to be held Saturday, May 4 at 2 p.m. The ceremony will take place at Knight's Farm in Batavia — located at Sanders Cemetery Lane and Cedar Road, Harrison. The bride is the daughter of Cindy and Jared Brusard of Harrison and Duane Keen of Oklahoma. The groom is the son of Betty Arlene Knight and the late Edward Wallace Knight of Batavia. more
Highway 392 was a busy highway going through Batavia on Monday of this week! Lots of people driving to their designated spot to watch the sun eclipse! I had the privilege of sitting on a bench on my patio and watching that spectacular event. more

The statewide gas price average in Arkansas was $3.24 for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel on Thursday, according to the AAA Arkansas Weekend Gas Watch. That price is five cents more compared to that day last week and flat compared to that day last year. more

This Saturday evening, VFW Post 10417 Awards Banquet takes place 6 p.m. in the Lead Hill School cafeteria. Scholarships will be awarded to the Patriots Pen Essay and Patriotic 3D Art contest winners. Come out and enjoy our talented students and more. Dinner is Free and served at 6 p.m. Program starts at 7 p.m. Everyone is welcome. more
That was exciting to see on Monday April 8. We sat outside to watch the moon to cover the sun. We only got 97% but I had a good seat in my front yard with my glass of ice. I have been losing weight that way. It was great to see it and to have in your front yard than to have a lot of people traveling to see it. more
On March 26, 2024, during a regular meeting of the Harrison Colony Chapter, NSDAR, four students from area school districts received recognition as DAR Good Citizen nominees. These nominees were selected by their school districts based on the qualities they have demonstrated in dependability, service, leadership, and patriotism and were eligible to enter a scholarship essay contest sponsored by Daughters of the American Revolution at the chapter, state, and national levels. more
