Happy Birthday March 4, the weather isn’t doing what I want. I had plans for the day. I was going to get my hair done and get out for a steak dinner at Eureka Springs that end that and talk about snow tonight. I didn’t order this weather. more

This program honors Arkansas families who have owned and farmed the same land for at least 100 years, recognizing their contributions to the state’s agricultural heritage. more
ADH produces a Weekly Viral Respiratory Diseases Report for clinicians. The report provides information on Influenza, COVID-19 and Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV) activity in the state. The report also compares activities in Arkansas to the U.S. ADH receives reports of only a fraction of COVID-19 cases and flu cases since it only requires reports of flu hospitalizations, deaths, and outbreaks. RSV is not a reportable disease in Arkansas. more

Daylight saving time begins Sunday, March 9, at 2 a.m. Clocks will be set forward one hour to 3 a.m. local daylight time. This annual change is designed to make better use of daylight during the warmer months, extending evening daylight hours and reducing the need for artificial lighting. more
LITTLE ROCK — With the 2024-25 Arkansas deer hunting season in the rearview mirror, many hunters have only memories. A few of Arkansas’s most dedicated hunters have until April 10 to submit their application for the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission’s Triple Trophy Award. more
LITTLE ROCK — The last arrow has been launched for the 2024-25 Arkansas deer hunting season, and the tally of checked deer stands at 199,863. Although the raw data still needs to be analyzed, the preliminary results indicate an increase of nearly 4 percent over last year’s final harvest of 192,392. more

49-year-old Brian Herring pleaded guilty in Boone County Circuit Court this week to charges of theft of property, a Class B felony, and forgery in the second degree, a Class C felony.  He was sentenced to seventeen years probation for theft and ten years probation for forgery. more
LITTLE ROCK — Arkansas lawmakers filed an appropriations bill to support construction of a Franklin County prison that officials estimated Monday will cost $825 million. more
LITTLE ROCK — Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders has introduced two new legislative initiatives aimed at reducing costs for consumers and supporting food donation efforts in the state. The Grocery Tax Relief Act seeks to repeal Arkansas' state grocery tax, while the Good Neighbor Act expands legal protections for food donors and food banks. more

The Arkansas Department of Health (ADH) reported last week that 87 influenza-related deaths have been reported this flu season. One was a pediatric death. The report noted 78.2% of those who died were not vaccinated. more
